be yourself
they'd always say
when i tried to keep
my words at bay

and then i do
and surprise, surprise
they just reply
with outraged cries

and thus,
i do not seem to see
how, in being someone
that's not me,
it aids my soul
when i know
instead of flawed,
you would prefer
facade.
